This healing begins from inside out, and one way to do this is juicing. In a mindful way we are separating the heavy from the light, creating room and awakening ourselves energetically.
Essentially, juicing is the process of extracting liquid from fruits and vegetables. Give the body the little gifts it needs with juicing, here’s why:
1) Juices Pack a Punch!
Juice has high levels of nutrients in a small package. Extracting juice from whole fruit condenses the nutrients from a large amount of fruits and vegetables, which would otherwise be difficult to completely consume. Get high doses of vitamins and minerals into the body by simply consuming juices.
2) A Vacation for the Digestive System
Vitamins, Minerals, and enzymes are directly absorbed into the immune system when we have juice. Since it takes us less time and energy to breakdown and move these nutrients through the body, more energy remains for healing and repair, giving the digestive system a much needed break.
3) Brain Food
The Brain loves Oxygen, juice is an easy way to transport oxygen all over the body and to the brain. This improves overall circulation, alertness and clarity.
4) Curb Cravings and Addictions
With overall improved alertness, juices lower the need for stimulants such as coffee. Since juice delivers nutrients, it can be consumed in addition to meals or in some cases as a replacement (juice fasting) assisting in weight management and reducing overeating.
5) Hydration and Healing
Our body is made up of more than 60% water which is responsible for transporting sugar, oxygen, fats and waste. This system needs constant and careful maintenance. And so, having juice is a good way to supply the body with this much needed moisture. The liquid from fruits is also a safe and filtered source of water, and unlike plain drinking water, juices contain electrolytes and phytonutrients.
When digestion stops, healing happens. Having juice leaves room for healing, a well hydrated body provides the environment for toxic elements to move out freely.
6) Healing in Disguise
Juicing is a great way to incorporate the not-so-tasty but highly medicinal ingredients into the diet. Mix your least favourite ingredients with tasty fruits and veggies to get in those powerful nutrients.
7) Convenient and Good for Travel
Incorporating juicing into your meal prep routine is a great idea because juices are portable, and are very easy to take with you for a nutritional power-up on the go.
Here’s a recipe for our Easy Green Cooler
1 handful kale /spinach
1 cup pineapple
1 thumb ginger
1 tsp spirulina / chlorella powder
1 cup water / coconut water
1 pinch himalayan salt
Blend all ingredients and Strain.
-Juicing may not be for everyone, persons with abnormal blood sugar levels are advised to consult their nutrition specialist for specific guidelines and recommendations. One suggestion may be to dilute juices with plain water or coconut water.
-Consider combinations, for example, have melon alone or leave it alone.
-A cold pressed juicer or masticating juicer is highly recommended. Heat generated from traditional juicers/extractors destroy valuable nutrients and enzymes.
- Living on an only juice diet is not recommended, the body still needs some fibre for movement and responds well to a dynamic exciting intake of foods.
